Greetings, New Academy students, parents, and family members. My name is Marcel Samlall, and I am eager to continue working with the students at The New Academy School. For the past seventeen years, I have benefited from working at various levels in the educational field ranging from elementary, middle school and secondary grade levels to serving as an Adjunct Instructor at two respective Community Colleges.
During the past decade, I served as an Academic Teacher for the Florida Department of Corrections. I instructed inmates, ranging in age from seventeen to twenty one, with learning disabilities assigned to the Work Release Centers of the Florida Department of Corrections. Most recently, I was working at a private school in Orlando, FL instructing fifth grade students in all essential subject matters and also instructing 3rd-9th grade students in Personal Finance.
My educational background and time spent working with and helping students and young people, of diverse interests and backgrounds, will provide me a solid foundation to work as a teacher at The New Academy.
This includes working with disparate and diverse student audiences. Having worked with these diverse groups, I can more readily anticipate and assess what their respective strengths and need areas are, and I can meet their individual learning needs and goals. Altogether, I make a concerted effort to broaden my students' horizons and disposition toward their environment and the world around them.
In addition, I am certified to teach three different subject areas: 1)English and 2)Social Science (Grades 6-12) and 3)Exceptional Student Education (Grades K-12). I have my Bachelors of Arts degree in History,my Master of Arts degree in English, and also I have earned a M.B.A. Degree.
I am originally from New Jersey, and I have been residing and working in the Orlando, Florida area for the past fifteen years.
During my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, walking and exercising, and playing tennis weekly. When I have the time, I truly relish the opportunity to unwind by watching sports on television or listening to sports via the radio especially watching on television or listening on the radio to Major League Baseball games and New York Yankees' games.
